Wallpaper: Repeating Patterns

Hi there!

Repeating patterns is one of the simplest form of wallpaper, yet it has the most variation of nature. The repetition of shapes or objects exhibit aesthetic and sophistication in any theme setting. Repeating patterns can be used as a design for any interior or digital backdrop!

Here's a simple tutorial:

1. Open ready image file saved from Google or own pattern you illustrated from scratch.

2.  Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool and select area to Define Pattern.

3. Define the Canvas Size and Fill content with the custom pattern.

Next,

If you wish to add one or more objects, create a theme: Banana Nana

1. Google an image, in this case Minion, and save it. Open file. Under Layers, double click on Background to convert to Layer 0Click on Select -> Color Range to suck up white as the sampling color. Use an Eraser Tool to erase the white background. Save image as PNG.

2. Find another related image, in this case Banana. Repeat Step 1. Instead of Eraser Tool, Delete to remove white background. Save image as PNG.

3. Create new transparent file. Create a new layer for the background. Fill in color. Place the images respectively and arrange them. Use Rectangular Marquee Tool and Define Pattern.

4. Fill canvas with the custom pattern. If you have a specific length and height, go to Image > Canvas Size to fix. If random size is fine, simply use the Crop Tool to extend or trim.

Hope the above helps you in customizing your own simple decoration in your personal space!
